Northeast Wisconsin is quickly becoming a recreation playground for ATV enthusiasts. County forestlands and numerous lakes and rivers provide riders with a serene setting for plenty of riding.
Langlade County offers off road enthusiasts two-year round trails with varied terrain. The 16 mile Augustyn Springs Trail, located near Lily, takes riders through impressive hardwood forestland and terrain ranging from rolling to very hilly. The trailhead is located on County Hwy. A and Augustyn Springs Road, just north of the intersection of County Hwy. S & A. The Parish Highlands Trail, located in the northwest corner of the county provides nearly 40 miles of riding with varied terrain. The main trailhead is located on County Trunk T, 3 miles west of US Hwy. 45 at Summit Lake. The trail is open for year round use but during the winter only 21 miles of the grail is groomed. In neighboring Forest County off road, enthusiasts will find another 8 miles of looped trail on county forestland located 3 miles south of Crandon. During the summer ATVer's Are allowed on most Langlade County forest roads or trails that are not gated or posted as prohibited. Call the Langlade County Forestry and Parks for more information. Nearly 110 miles of trails are ready to be explored in Oconto County. A fun-filled day awaits riders on a trip from Suring north to Mountain. Ride over the Pestigo Brook Bridge and enjoy the beautiful woodlands with varied terrain from banked sand corners to flat former railroad grade. The trail system is open May1 through October 31. The Dusty Trail ATV Club invites riders to come and enjoy their spring and fall Poker Runs, see Area Events for dates and area contacts. Northern Marinette County and the Dun-Good Wilderness Riders ATV Club invite ATV enthusiasts to enjoy their 130 plus miles of year round trails. This trail system consists of a 30 mile north loop, an 11 mile wildlife loop (marked with blue and yellow trail markers), a 55 mile south loop, an 18 mile leg that ends just north of Pembine that has a 15 mile cul-du-sac loop that comes back into the main 18 mile leg. The trail system goes as far south as Silver Cliff. This trail system is maintained for year round use but will close approximately April 1 - April 30 or any other time due to extreme wet weather or fire danger. Trails are well marked with brown and white ATV trail signs and the rods with green and white ORV route signs. Trailer parking with direct trail access is available in Dunbar at the North Country Inn and at Richard Motel & Supper Club. Gas can be obtained trailside in both Dunbar, Goodman and Silver Cliff. Many more miles of the Iron Snowshoe Trails south of Silver Cliff are available to ATV's when open for snowmobiles, December through February. These trails meander around Twin Bridges Park, Thunder Lake and the Caldron Falls Reservoir. Please contact the Dun Good Wilderness Riders for more information. The Little Rice ATV Trail, approximately 50 miles in length, located south of Hazelhurst and west of Hwy 51 in the town of Little Rice in Oneida County is another excellent choice for OHV riders. Enjoy a scenic jaunt through tree lined forests and explore the pristine Willow Flowage. Abundant trailside pitstops are available making this a fine choice for a family ride. Amenities abound in the nearby towns of Minoqua and Rhinelander. Whatever you choose to ride in Northeast Wisconsin you will find fine lodging and dining along with warm hospitality.
