Wisconsin ATV Trail Riding Information from ATV Tracks

Miles of fun-filled four wheeling can be found in Southwest Wisconsin. The Cheese Country Recreational Trail boasts 47 miles of improved, abandoned railroad grade extending from Mineral Point in Iowa County, to Darlington in Lafayette County, on to Monroe in Green County. The trail surface consists of mainly flat, dry, level riding, following the former Milwaukee Railroad grade that runs parallel with the picturesque Pectonica River. The trail is appropriately named after the approximately 30 cheese factories in Lafayette, Green and Iowa counties, producing large quantities of cheeses such as Swiss, Muenster and Limburger. The Pecatonica Trail, affords approximately 15 miles of shared used trail along an abandoned railroad grade from Calamine, where it connects with the Cheese Country Trail, running west to Belmont and the Lafayette County line near Platteville. This trail is open April 1 through November 15.

Year round ATV fun can be found on the stretch of trail in the Blanchardville, Holldale, Darlington, and Gratiot areas. This trail connects with the Cheese Country Trail south of Calamine and again just north of Darlington. From April 1 through November 15 when the Cheese Country Trail is open, riders can enjoy the journey.
