Trails in Langlade County are developed and maintained by the Langlade County Forestry and Recreation Department. There are currently two different trails systems known as the Parrish Highlands ATV Trail and the Augustyn Springs ATV Trail. In the spring of 2008 development of two other trail systems will start. The first segment will be about 10 miles in length and will start in the White Lake area and then connect with the Augustyn Springs trails. The second segment will connect to the Augustyn Springs trail from the north and head over to the Pickerel/Pearson area.

Parrish Highlands-
This trail is very scenic and traverses glacial moraines, upland hardwoods, cedar swamps and small rivers and lakes. The terrain is rolling to very hilly. There are over 55 miles of trails in this location. This trail system also links up with the Lincoln County and Oneida County ATV trail systems.
Trail access-
The trailhead and main access point is located on County Highway T, 3 miles west of US Highway 45 just north of Summit Lake. Ample parking, a wash station and trail maps are available at this location.
Other access points with limited off-highway parking are available south of Parrish on County Highway H and northeast of Parrish on County Highway Q.
Augustyn Springs-
This trail is very scenic and is located in a large block of northern hardwoods. This trail is rocky and during some wet periods has some large water holes. There are over 20 miles of trails in this location.
Trail access-
The trailhead is located on County Highway A, approximately 12 miles northeast off of US Highway 45 just north of Antigo. Ample parking and trail maps are available at this location.
Trail Regulations-
Both trail systems are two-way trails and exist on logging roads which are also open to motor vehicle traffic, hikers, registered motorcycles and many other recreationalists. Please use caution and appropriate speed. Follow the brown ATV trail marker signs. ATV’s with studded tires or chains are prohibited. Also, these trail systems interconnect with other woods trails and Langlade County Ordinance permits ATV’s to travel on any forest road and trail provided the trail or road is not gated, cabled, posted, ditched or signed prohibiting the travel of unauthorized motor vehicles. Due to the size of the forest, we recommend staying on marked ATV trails as these forest roads are not on the maps and it is very easy to get lost.
Examples of closed areas are the area immediately adjacent to and south of Jack Lake (4,500 acres), Jack Lake Cross-Country Ski Trail (2,000 acres), Moccasin Lake Road Cross- Country Ski Trail (300 acres), Stevens Springs hunter walking trails (2,200 acres), Pence Lake tower hunter walking trails (1,200 acres), and the westernmost area in the Ackley Wildlife Area (3,000 acres). Thus, approximately 13,200 acres of the 126,000-acre Langlade County Forest are closed to motorized vehicles, including ATV's. ATV's are not allowed on town roads which go through the county forest.
The Langlade County Forest is 127,000 acres in size and is managed primarily for timber production, together with providing recreational, wildlife and other multiple use benefits. You may encounter some logging activity. Please use caution and respect the loggers’ equipment as they earn their livelihood.
Please respect the forest. Don’t litter or harass wildlife. Your ATV registration fees have enabled Langlade County to develop and maintain these trails. If you encounter a trail hazard, please report it to the Langlade County Forestry and Recreation Department at 715-627-6300.
The Summer ATV Trails will be closed from December 1 - May 1.
In the winter, ATV's are permitted on approximately 500 miles of the funded snowmobile trails, EXCEPT on the Nicolet National Forest, and areas that are posted NO ATV's. However, ATV's are not allowed on the trail until 10 days after the snowmobile trails have officially opened and the temperature is less than 28 degrees Fahrenheit at a point four feet above the trail surface.
